Rare vintage 1940s Occupied Japan high luster porcelain dish
Gorgeous luster and color on this mint condition vintage dish from Japan during the occupation.
This is a rare find and in such good condition with no chips, no noticeable crazing and no lost of pigment. The imprint on the back "Made in occupied Japan" is the only identifying future of this dish.
The plate has two holes on each end for total of 4 perhaps for hanging ease, perhaps for incense burning use, or even to wash some berries in it... I have not been able to find anything like this to draw conclusions as to the utilitarian function of the holes present, if you have a better idea, let me know I love to learn about this particular item!
Base color is a dark chocolate with almost a purple like luster to it, very reflective, the flower and leaf motif are hand painted on with pretty shades of light pink, green and yellow.
